- buddyIamExplorerThe epa highway test loop is only 10 miles.
Of course they don't test HD trucks. But 10 miles is what they use for the others.
So I wouldn't say the miles would be a problem.
Idleing, fuel fill, and fuel measurement would be my concern.
But the 1 mpg more for the Ram over the ford on the computer must mean something. And it would negate all of the above problems.
After all the EPA test is done on a dyno and relies on computers for measurements also.
But did anyone address wind? - blofgrenExplorer

Turtle... Please advise! :B
Well I can think of a few. Let me advise that these are just guesses from me so no whining if you don't agree.
#1. The Chevy would have been over the GVWR. (oops wrong brand) :B
#2. Roman and the other Hill Billy dude did not want to appear to be piling on as the DuraMax has won every test given since the invention of the DuraMax.
#3. Why bother? When you win test after test, after test, after test, it gets boring and redundant and your readership will wane. (who's going to win? Oh the Chevy won again.) (Who won the towing test? The Chevy? Ya, how did you know? Oh that's right, they always win!!) :B
#4. Fuel is going up again so why waste it on a test when you already know who is going to come out on top.
#5. Chevy's are selling so fast they could not get a dealership to loan them one.
#6. Lots of readers own Fords, and if they lose again they will drop there subscription. (losing to a Ram is not too bad but when you lose to a Chevy again, that really stings)
#7. The Hill Billy dude could not figure out how to drive the Chevy.
#8. Chevy did not want to prove to certain people that "Ford is second to none at this point in time."
#9. They got tired of putting the doors back on the Ford after each and every test.
And the top tenth reason the Chevy did not show up.............
#10. Ford Motor Company thugs jacked it to see how they keep winning test after test after test!!! Rumor is Ford is going to buy a Chevy and stick "SUPER DUTY" and blue ovals all over it and call it a Ford to win the next test.
And now I want to say I'm shocked at all of this skepticism of this great test? Come on people. This test was done under "very controlled conditions" by "professionals." :B How much more scientific do you want the tests to get? They even used the super scientific two click method! What more do you want!!!!??? :B
I mean really people. This is what these people do for a living! If we can't believe these "professionals" who can you believe? :B
I would go one further on the Top Reason GM was a no show:
Top Reason: GM is short on funds from after that Government Motors stigma and didn't have any money budgeted for the fanfare. :p
BTW... Leave it to a Californian to call these guys hillbillies :B
Good laughs. Thanks guys :B - blofgrenExplorerBetter fuel mileage from the only medium duty diesel available in a pickup truck. Sounds like a win-win to me :B
- ib516Explorer IIThey say in video #2 that they are trying to get a Duramax but haven't been able to so far...or something like that. I hope they get one to test out.

2 mpg better for the Ram with the 4.10s. I guess you have to pay for the extra 55 ponies the Ford makes, even with the 3.73s.
Oh my!!! Fish is not going to like those figues. Let the excuses begin! :B
Probably is becase of where the truck is built. At least that is what I heard from my neighbor's aunt's counsin's hairdresser. Cummins12V98 wrote:

OMG...:B
Someone please dial 911 Fish choking.
I'm Ok but I may have threw up in my mouth a little. :B
I think the computer calculated fuel mileage on these truck are so good you should be able to go by that. Which would put the RAM's fuel milege in line with the Ford which is what I really believe.
The reason for the OMG was why was a GM truck left out of this test again. This load should have been acceptable for a Duramax this time... Shouldn't it? Anyways enjoyed the video and some of the humor that was in the first video.
Turtle... Please advise! :B- ib516Explorer III wouldn't call this video a definative test, but it was interesting just the same.

I think everyone knows I am a RAM/CUMMINS guy but there is no way that truck got 14mpg on such a short run. Maybe run 300 miles the 14 would be possible. The Lie O Meter is more accurate under this condition.
This fill two click is a joke! Fill the SOB to the top until fuel starts running out that is the only way the test can be fair. Also same pump matters also, at least they did that.
I agree the capless fill is a joke! I will be getting a cap from Geno's for mine.
Kent get that missing tooth fixed!
X2
This is a sham of a mileage test! :S
There is no way to get an accurate reading with a pump refill even from the same pump!! A real mileage you need to run at least 300 miles! Then check the mileage.
Yes, another RAM/Cummins guy saying sham.
That is true. If I top off, sometimes I can get over 5 additional gallons and sometimes 3 at the same station.
