Grit,
Not too many steep hills between CT and VT. If I had more time I would have slowed down and got a few mpg more. Get over 70 and mpg starts to drop off quickly. Starting from dead stops or resuming speed after having to drop from cruise speed, is where most of my mpg goes away.
Back roads with few stops, even at 45mph, can net 16 mpg.
I never broke 17 on my old gasser. Low hp 6.8l, 3spd w/OD auto running 4.30's. That was new and downhill with tail wind!.
Haven't towed yet, about 1700# is the most I've loaded on her so far. Winter usually sees about 1100# of concrete block and PVC tubes filled with sand for ballast.
