My bad, my assumption was Todd was thinking dually.
If going srw then IMO it's still doable with 3.42s. Just be dropping an extra gear on hills compared to the much deeper 4.10s probably similar rpms and amount of burnt diesel going out the pipe.
Again it's duty cycle and type of usage.
Still a DD most of the year and not all the towing in mtns or big hills then higher gears probably make more sense anyway. But in this case Fram (FiatRam) has already decided for you!
