Our 2012 Arctic Fox has the pocket door latch and strap. The latch was fastened too close to the door cutout and pulled loose (the only thing that saved the door from greater damage was the strap). I removed the latch and built up the cutout with epoxy before remounting the latch slightly deeper in the door - This fix has held up well, so I feel the initial installation was incorrect and use of a pocket door latch works well. A springy strip of door insulation run the height of the door jamb may take the slack out of the doors only secured by strap and prevent inertia from slamming it back and forth on acceleration/deceleration when driving.
BTW: Our Weekend Warrior TH also used a strap to hold the pocket door. The door opened side to side instead of front to back so the strap coming loose never was an issue.
