2015/2016 Ram owners

Thanks for the feed back. Apparently my truck was built six months before the buyback cut off date. Not super happy as my steering is still subject of the recall and still no parts to fix...

So since that is off the table I can cool my jets (buy back ends in Jan 6th) and realize my next step.

Most likely wait until the '18 is out like my original plan. Although due to my trucks demand, I have two standing offers to buy. So I still might buy now...but I'll just factory order if I go new. I cannot find a shortbed 3500 in this state.

Here is the break down. I was probably the first to run a TC on a 2500 with coils as torklift had to test the tie downs because they didn't have a product number when I got my truck.

The coils are great. They ride great and handle the load they are rated for. The problem is going to be the payload rating of the 2500 with the diesel 4x4. It significantly reduces the payload rating. I think it is under 2000 lbs with the diesel.

I have the 6.4 in the 2500. I love my truck. It hauls my camper well. It does everything I have ever asked it to do. I have just under 30000 miles and half has been with my TC. That being said the only reason I don't have a 3500 diesel is because of budget. TC's get heavy and I think you should start with the most payload capacity you can afford.

2500 and diesels don't mix. They are too heavy to start with.


My wish list is that the 2018 3500 come with coils so I get the epic ride of the 2500 with the payload capacity of the 3500.

The coils on the 1500 are significantly lighter than the 2500. My 2500 has a payload of over 3000. And rides decent empty for a 2500. Of course I only turn 55 psi when empty.

Fwiw with 80psi in the tires or the 19.5 you got, it's going to ride like a lumber wagon anyway so may as well keep up the search for a leaf sprung truck.

I understand the truck would need bags. That was never a question I asked....My question how the coils are working for those that have hauled a TC or other heavy load in the them. I have conflicting reports...from actual owners. One is saying the coil sprung trucks are rated for 3800 lbs...other suggest that the coils won't handle well with the TC...

I also don't see where I asked about ride quality either...and I know my tires are stiff...

I was not aware there was such a massive buy back on HD Rams. And I know you didn't ask about ride quality I just ASSumed like most posts here on the 2500vs3500, folks talk about the ride, which is out the window once you put med duty tires on a pickup.

Thanks for the link, seems the coils hold weight pretty well, better than my leaf's do looking at the loads.
