I know it is new but I don't expect much of an improvement with miles.
That is 9mpg(US gallon) Don't consider that bad at all.
What did you think you were going to get?
Just made 1400 (600 miles one way) mile round trip to the Black Hills, combined mileage was 10.3 mph. This truck is awesome.
