The 5.6 had extremely competitive performance numbers - way back when it first came out.

Looks like they are once again competitive with the output of the other engines in the class. That, plus the heavily re-worked truck they are launching, will likely put them back in the game for a while. With Fred Diaz in charge, I doubt they will let such a profitable vehicle line wither on the vine again.
