People can, and will, sue over anything. Doesn't really matter what a sticker on the truck says.
Will then in CO you will have to explain to a judge how you determined the (overloaded) weight you put in the truck and how it's designed to hold that weight and how you know more than the engineers who designed the truck. I would be interested to know if it's not the PAYLOAD sticker that determines the baseline then what is?
