Understand. But the issue being if a NISSAN COMMANDS a comparable PRICE POINT. Nissan certainly hasn't been thought of as the "Standard" when it comes to towing in this class. As a matter of fact-it has to justify this price in it's own class. Get a diesel motor-and a low payload. As a matter of fact-the payload in my Silverado is 1444 pounds. What do I get with the Nissan?-Oh yeah another 40ish pounds of payload and a diesel motor.
What you get is a CUMMINS with power output up around early 2000's 6.0 powerstroke, 5.9 cummins, and 6.6 duramax with a robust AISIN 6sp auto.
This kind of power is something NO other 1/2t motor other than the 3.5l ecoboost can hope to match at this point.
You are going to see these trucks hauling well beyond their numbers, just like the ecoboost.
This cummins would be the perfect motor for a 250/2500.
They call it a 5/8's ton because it has a higher GVWR than a 1/2, but it needed the extra to make up for another 550lbs of motor and emissions equipment, beefy trans, and heavier frame to handle the weight and torque.
OK-I get it. We should buy one because you can really exceed the payload published by the manufacturer. You think I can get the dealer to put that in writing so if I choose to do that my warranty will still be intact? - drittalExplorer

- Grit_dogNavigatorWell we just killed the new Nissan XDiesel dead!
No one will buy one after reading the last 4 pages.......lol. - BenKExplorerThat is why the courts mandated TPMS (tire pressure monitor sensor...or
is it system???) that so many have problems with now
Court mandated because of the Ford Explorer and Firestone issue with too low a PSI
listed on the Explorer labels/manual...and because Ford lowered the recommendation
to appease their customers who wanted 'ride quality' over performance
It took a few deaths before the government agencies took action. Before that, finger
pointing between Firestone and Ford
Don't remember if either OEM were fined or not...it took so long and the back
and forth news articles
Do remember so many comments from OEMs, agencies, etc that stated and
all agreed that the public is ignorant about tire pressure...not good
at checking them often enough, etc - spoon059Explorer II

So if the tire placard on my trucks door jamb says that each tire is supposed to have 40 lbs. of air and I cause an accident and they find out one tire had 35 lbs of air is that any different than overloading my truck and causing an accident?
Depending upon which "internet lawyer" from The University of RV.net is bringing the lawsuit, YES, YOU ARE COMPLETELY LIABLE IF YOUR TIRE PRESSURE IS NOT 40!!! :) - wompsExplorerSo if the tire placard on my trucks door jamb says that each tire is supposed to have 40 lbs. of air and I cause an accident and they find out one tire had 35 lbs of air is that any different than overloading my truck and causing an accident?
