Understand. But the issue being if a NISSAN COMMANDS a comparable PRICE POINT. Nissan certainly hasn't been thought of as the "Standard" when it comes to towing in this class. As a matter of fact-it has to justify this price in it's own class. Get a diesel motor-and a low payload. As a matter of fact-the payload in my Silverado is 1444 pounds. What do I get with the Nissan?-Oh yeah another 40ish pounds of payload and a diesel motor.
What you get is a CUMMINS with power output up around early 2000's 6.0 powerstroke, 5.9 cummins, and 6.6 duramax with a robust AISIN 6sp auto.
This kind of power is something NO other 1/2t motor other than the 3.5l ecoboost can hope to match at this point.
You are going to see these trucks hauling well beyond their numbers, just like the ecoboost.
This cummins would be the perfect motor for a 250/2500.
They call it a 5/8's ton because it has a higher GVWR than a 1/2, but it needed the extra to make up for another 550lbs of motor and emissions equipment, beefy trans, and heavier frame to handle the weight and torque.
OK-I get it. We should buy one because you can really exceed the payload published by the manufacturer. You think I can get the dealer to put that in writing so if I choose to do that my warranty will still be intact?
