It is statement like this that he was referring to. Just about 99.9% of those who choose to delete or tune their vehicle do so knowing that parts of their factory warranty will be voided so they aren't ignorant to it. Although most parts on a diesel that fail during warranty tend to be emissions parts and I have yet to run into any warranty issues on all 5 of the vehicles I have tuned before the warranty was out over the years.
Then there is the factor that custom tuning the trans and removing emissions equipment actually increase engine longevity if you get a reputable tuner and do not drive it at high horsepower without supporting mods. A deleted 6.7L Cummins and a trans tuned 68RFE can handle 450 hp at the wheels for hundreds of thousands of miles.
