Since it has revved up some as to the emissions questions Id like to take this opportunity to point out that there are glaring inconsistencies in the regulatory approach by government on environmental issues.
If you are powerful enough as a group and support certain political parties government will turn a blind eye. But the low hanging fruit of the individual who likes to tinker with his truck to gain some mileage and power some here scorn and would be happy to report to big brother.
Case in point. Trade between Canada and the U.S is huge. But the U.S. Teamsters (who have supported the Democrats for years) pushed into place a regulation that requires a Canadian truck delivering something into the U.S. Must haul it's NEXT load back into Canada.
This regulation means that a lot of extra fuel is burned as trucks are moved sometimes hundreds of miles Without freight to get a load to haul.
When it comes to protectionism...the environment be dammed.
