Fair enough if you are modding for improved mileage. OP's mileage after deletes is equal to my truck with factory emissions though. What year is your truck Shiner?
I average about 16 to 17 with my driving in a stock 2015 2500. Non-towing driving for me is mostly around town, stoplights and hills. Occasionally I will get on I70 and head west for 60 or 70 miles at a time. I'm very pleased that my 8600 lbs, 370 hp, 800 lbs/ft torque truck can attain that mileage with emissions so I don't have to worry if my state introduces emissions inspections on trucks.
I have a post DEF 2014. When the truck was on stock tires, I was getting about 15.5 mpg hand calculated(17-18 EVIC). When I put larger 34 inch aggressive Nitto mud terrain tires my mileage dropped to 14.5 mpg hand calculated(16-17 EVIC). After the tune and still the same Nitto tires, my mileage went to 17 mpg hand calculated average(17-18 EVIC).
Oddly, the EVIC got closer to my hand calculated mileage with the tune so some people may not see a huge difference if they are only going by the mileage EVIC states. In my case, EVIC stated that I was getting the same mileage on stock tune and stock tread as I am with the tune on aggressive tread. If I didn't record my hand calculated mileage before and after only going by EVIC, then I would have never known that I actually gained mileage.
If I had stock tread or a less aggressive tire then I have no doubts I could probably get 18-19 mpg hand calculated. On the the rare occasion I do get above 18 mpg even with my current tires, but it does not happen enough to be the norm which is usually between 17-17.5 mpg and I round down.
Do you consider the percentage your aftermarket tires are off when figuring mileage? My tires were off by 5% on men 98 so I would take my miles X 1.05 and then divide by gallons used.
