  • Two things I noticed in the video.

At about 3:40 listen to Nathan's voice. It sounds to me like he is getting bounced bad enough that his entrails are banging against his diaphragm thus altering his voice.

Then on the downhill braking they state one brake application was a record.

When they tested the 3500 trucks with 22,800 lbs the GM only had one brake application as the 2500 Ford. In both cases this is what tells the computer the max speed to allow the truck to go.

With the 3500 test I did not see where they said how many brake applications the ford required but I am sure it was more than one.

They did say at 3:11 in the 3500 video the Ram required three brake applications.

They also complained the GM did not go over 50 mph which is where the brake was first applied. The GM held the exact speed they set it at with the first brake application.

So to make things fair at 22:21 in the 3500 video they said they gave all three trucks the same braking score when it was very clear the GM out performed the other two.

    8:03 at 4.1 mpg towing 12,500 lbs?

I would have thought it would have done way better than the 370hp/800lb-ft 2015 Ram 2500 6.7L they tested a few years ago that towed 12,500 lbs at 7:33 with 4.4 mpg.

The test with the 2015 Ram wasn't done with the same criteria. The Ford was held to 60MPH max speed the Ram wasn't. In the Ram's video you can see the speedo at 65 or more. In the Ford he stated he could have broke the speed limit all the way up the hill.

Well then I wonder what kind of fuel economy the Ram would have gotten if it was held to 60 mph as well. Although he would be lying if he said he could have broke the speed limit all the way up the hill. When they took the decibel reading, he clearly said he was wide open throttle yet not exceeding the speed limit.

What I can't figure is how the F350 was such a horrible disappointment (Subjective score of 17 & 18) and the identical truck in a F250 was the highest score ever ( subjective part was 22 & 23). Likely if the F350 had been manually shifted to make use of the 440 HP it would have been wonderful as well. I find it disappointing that the Powerstroke with all its new technology, like the reverse flow heads and turbo in the centre of the V, never seems to be able to grab the mpg title.
