I like the idea of the F-450 especially coming with 19.5" wheels, larger brakes Dana 110 and axel as well as the increased turning radius that the F-450 is supposed to have over the F-350. However, I would expect that driving a F-450 with those 19.5's is going to be miserable unloaded and the fuel mileage is going to suffer considerably with that 4.30.
Anyone with a F-450 care to comment about the daily drive ability of the F-450?
I'm sure my experience with a 2003 is nothing like what I'd get from a 2017, but my F-450 (chassis cab) has 4.88 gearing and the fuel mileage is appalling. The engine turns over at 2500 RPM at highway speeds. When I'm unloaded, I can run over a dime with the 19.5s and tell you what year it was minted by how hard my kidneys bounce. However, when I have 3,000 pounds of pin weight on the hitch, it rides as smooth as a Cadillac.
