2017 F350 DRW - Anyone Ordered One?

We plan on ordering a 2017 f350 drw to haul our current lance or maybe a new 1062 lance. Just wondered if anyone has ordered one. I understand they are taking orders and production begins 11 July.

I'm wonder what the tie-down situation will be with an aluminum bed and a new chassis.

:D
  • xlt, crew cab, 4x4, manual t/c shifter, aux switches, off-road pkg, camper pkg, rear camera, 40/40 seats, 4.30 gears, probably some others I can't remember ... and not a bunch of other options I don't want.

I wish I could find a 2016 set up like I want. There are so many options on those trucks, I've NEVER been able to buy one off the lot.
  • I've got a 2012 F350 DRW, if I ever get another one it will be the chassis cab set up.

  • If you want an F450, there are alot better deals on the F350/450 cab/chassis trucks, which also have more payload capacity than the F350/450 pickups.

Because of the straight frame rails of the cab/chassis trucks, you can easily put a flatbed or hauler style bed on it, allowing built in secure storage space, as well as better usability than a pickup box, tailored to your needs.
  • Hey Boatycall! I still visit this forum occasionally. Wayne and the forum members are doing a great job keeping it going and providing a great source of TC info.

I read your 450 thread a while back. I don't want to put that much money into a new truck. Below are some very rough MSRPs for 4x4 PSD XLT Ford trucks spec'ed out like we need:

    $42k 2006 F-350 DRW (current truck)
    $51k 2016 F-350 DRW
    $61k 2017 F-350 DRW
    $75k to $80k? 2017 F-450 DRW

I wish I had got up off on my butt and ordered a 2016 last Fall. But I waited around too long and missed the 2016 order window. I've never liked getting the first model year, but that looks like what will happen. That 450 looks nice, but more than I want to spend.

We are getting close to retiring and this will likely be our last TC and TC hauling truck. We will be doing some semi-full timing.
  • Brad! Long time no see.

I was very seriously considering a 2017 F450 - Look at those before you make up your mind on a 350 - LOTS of differences now, like 19.5's, Dana110 rear end, and bigger brakes, just to name a few. I did a LOT of research....But the $82k OTD price pushed me into a used 2015.

I don't think they've announced HP/Tq even now, but word is they will push the tq from 850 to 1,000ftlbs just for bragging rights. A programmer will take any of the current 6.7's there. I can personally attest to not needing it though, see my thread on Observations - Going from an '01 F350 DRW to a '15 F450.

    Here's a post in a thread I did before buying my '15, comparing 2016 to 2017 F450, as well as F350 vs. F450--
