I think Ford (and GM) truck owners are far more interested in function than styling. I think Dodge owners are more interested in styling than Ford or Chevy owners are, indeed, I remember they had difficulty giving Dodge trucks away until they made them self consciously pretty about 20 years ago.

Note too the change in name from Dodge to Ram; that tells you something about the market being aimed at.
