I have read this before....maybe they had some bad years in the past?
My stock Firestone HTs only lasted 20k miles (not even quite, but close). Total junk so I was happy to replace them.
I don't use the engine brake much when I'm not towing. I'll throw it on full here and there when I'm getting off the freeway or something. When towing I like to run it on Auto in conjunction with T/H.
