My previous trucks were Rams 2012 2500, 2014 2500, 2014 3500 drw. Current truck is 2017 3500 drw. The first 3 all had more than 100,000 miles at trade in. Current truck is at 30,000. Never needed brakes on any of them. OP said his son doesn’t tow or haul and most everyone is giving advice about using TH and full EB. When I’m not hauling my Lance 992 I always turn on the EB to the 2nd setting. Then it only comes on when I tap the brakes. Not when I let off the throttle. This saves wear on the brakes but doesn’t hurt my mpg as it allows me to slow down but still roll. Full EB is too aggressive if you’re not towing or hauling.
