There is little doubt that a bigger truck is better. You can rarely have too much truck.
That said, my F-150 4x4 with E-boost, pulling my 25 ft 6400 lb. across the scales TT, as never let me down in the last 30,000 miles. Climbing the Rockies, up or down, I went as fast as I wanted to go. If you see me creeping up or down a hilly winding road, it is not the truck, it is my comfort zone. If you do not like it, feel to pass me by.
It is the same with cross winds, rain, snow and perfectly fine driving conditions. I am going to drive a the speed I feel comfortable with. The difference between comfortable and "white knuckle" driving is confidence.
Neither the F-150 nor the E-boost is anything mystical. My F-150 is rated for 1400 lbs. max cargo and a towing capacity of 9500 lbs. That is what I ask it to do. With family and gear I am limited to about 750 lbs of tongue weight.
The E-boost is simply a blower added to an engine, something they used to do at the drag strip in the 1960's when I was in high school. It provides better low end torque.
As you approach the limits of your TV's rated capacities you increase the wear and tear. That is just a fact of life.
