I love my half ton and think it's very capable, even though it's not a Ford. ;) And I have no fear of exceeding the GVWR a little bit now and then.
But I bought it, knowing it would be primarily a weekend warrior, and daily commuter. If I was shopping for a trailer that large, and a truck to tow it, I would surely be looking 250/2500 and larger.
