This Trumps all else in this personal debate. Full timers and frequent movers really need a 3/4 or 1 ton truck.
A 1/2 ton towing 7000lbs+++ is for weekend warriors or those who travel the nation only a few weeks a year and can deal with the short-comings and less comfortable towing.
Exactly why they need more truck, far less experience traveling. Weekend warrior heading to a lake 100 miles away still questionable. Use the proper tool to do the job, anything less people can & will get hurt.
This is entirely out of context of my post and I absolutely despise the fear mongering statements regarding the SIZE tow vehicle has ANYTHING to do with safe towing.
My family started RVing before 1965. My grandfather and father have towed with vehicles we would condemn today.
Even the late 70's, 80's and 90's when I grew up RVing everyone had underpowered and overloaded RV's. Everyone!
Here's my families first TT pulled by something my Father cannot even recall. 3 kids and 2 adults. 1966. They all survived.
