Got the same thing when I said that I would tow a 4,600lb TT with my Ranger....."OHHH you need a 1/2 ton for that"...LOL. That's at 82% of the Rangers rated ability. WD hitch, good trailer brake and not driving like its empty will be no problems...would a 1/2 ton tow it better...sure it would but the Ranger will be fine.
Forum member DSteiner use to tow a fifth wheel with not one but two Ford Rangers. Maybe he will be along soon. He is very experienced with proper loading and that sort of thing.
Very interesting story, I am sure you can find them in the Archives.
Half tons today are very capable. I don't feel like I have a wimpy truck just because I have a F150. Just know the borders of the limitations and load your truck AND trailer properly.
Thanks!

I thought about finding a 5er, but our plans are to see the lower 48 soon and we like to do exploring on a Harley, and there would be no way to bring it with a 5er. The little Ranger would be hard pressed to do it with a TT. I will tow the TT with the Ranger for local stuff and weekend outings. When we do the BIG trips it will be towed by an F250 with the Harley in the bed.
