A 9000 pound trailer is a non-issue for a properly equipped 1500 series truck.
a 9k on trailer, at 12% tongue weight is 1,080 tongue weight alone.
that does not take into account the weight of the hitch itself, gear and occupants in the cab of the truck or gear in the bed.
my 2015 Silverado 1500 had 1704lbs of payload. no way I'd ever tow a 9k on trailer with that Silverado, with my family of 4 and all our gear, it would have been way overweight. I think once you get over 8,000 on loaded trailer weight, your on the cusp of 3/4 ton truck territory. 1/2 tons have artificially high tow ratings because they will run out of payload long before they hit the tow rating
