I mentioned checking welds, etc, but it actually wasn't a failed weld- the receiver box metal split at the 2 bottom corners, allowing the bottom horizontal portion of the box to bend down.
The max tongue weight for the F-150 was 500 lbs without WD, and 1130 lbs with. The max tongue weight for the F-250 is 1500 lbs either way.
