Getting a bit frustrated by GM.The only door sticker I have gives GVWR and cargo capacity for my particular truck. There is nothing on any other door jam. I have contacted GMC in Detroit by email and they emailed back a couple of days later yo say that someone would call me "tomorrow". Didn't happen. Three days later, I called Detroit and they referred me to someone who was not available at the time. Left a message with all the info they had asked for previously plus my question. Got an email next day to say that since the truck was bought in Canada, please email them for more info. Waited another week after resending an email to GM Canada and receiving acknowledgement that my email was received. Now a week later and not a peep from anyone.Got that off my chest. Feel better now.Does anyone out there with the same year truck like mine have a sticker that has the info I need? I will soon be hooking up to my new to me 12,500# 5er, and I just want to have some numbers that I know are right. A picture of your sticker would be awesome.A friend of mine has the same year Chevy 3500, and he doesn't have a sticker either. Funny that they stress in the owners manual that it is important to know the axle weights especially if towing a 5th wheel, and they don't provide them anywhere.All stirred up again............

Any way of doing a net search to find what your looking for? I agree too that it seems odd not to have a sticker BUT the sticker on the it should say something. Can you post a pic of what you have?

All 3500 SRW GM trucks that year model has a 7050 RAWR. However FAWR numbers depend on certain packages/gas vs diesel/drive options. I would think any GM dealer could run the VIN number and come up with that trucks numbers. Double check your sticker as newer stickers might say a GAWR front xxxx or GAWR rear xxxx. Older stickers read FAWR XXXX and RAWR xxxx. Is it possible the truck was a re-builder ??

You are missing a lot of information. First, what is a standard bed? 6'6" or 8'. Peoples views vary based mostly on the age of the person.Second, Single rear wheel or dually?Third, Single cab, double cab, crew cab?Fourth, What engine is in the truck.And finally, with a 12,500 5th wheel on any 3500 series truck. You're good. The lowest payload I see on the charts is 3,800 lbs. You will be way lower than that.

Were both trucks bought new?You are in Canada, but I believe all of the big three put the payload sticker on trucks shipped to Canada also.Take a look on you drivers door pillar, and drivers door take pictures of any stickers and post.ON EDIT: You live in BC Canada, GVWR is the rule in BC, so forget the axle rating you need to know the GVWR, which is likely no greater than 11,500#. Even if you have a payload of 3,800# the pin on a 12,500# 5er will likely be about 2,700#, that is likely the best case!

I'm surprised that no axle limits are listed. EVEN IF, a jurisdiction goes strictly by Gross wieght, be it registered or manufacture based. You can still overload an axle, be it manufacture, or road designed max point load, in conjunction with registration as based here in US.OR, BC knows, even if at or slightly above manufactures gvwr, that truck will never be over the point load limit of around 10-12k lbs for typical tire widths per axle. Assuming, BC follows similar federal/national regs as here in US. Ie 500 lbs per inch width of tire, up to 20k per axle, whichever is lower.Please note, assuming single rear/front tires as it appears IP's truck has. If duals, here he would get 10-12k on front, most DW rigs will get 18-20k due to increased tire width point load to work with.Marty

No they don’t. And not talking about OE tire and rim sizes from 20 years ago. Which were also interchangeable. But back to this century,
Each of the big 3 has a multitude of wheel options and they’re basically all available on both 3/4 and 1 ton srw models. Yes some tires are rated heavier , but they are avaiLbe across both model lines.
And if you happen to get one with 17” pizza cutters and which don’t have any heavy tire options, regardless of model, a set of cheap takeoff wheels and tires are readily available.

I have Toyo load range E good for 1850 Kg or 4070 lbs each. Lots of headroom there.

Yep, your is light like my DD’s 2004 Ram 3500 crew cab DRW, our 2016 left the factory at 8,589 and weighs 10,000# ready to tow!

Yes. Heavy--especially against my Tundra which came in at around 6000 on the road ready to pull our TT.

I was loaded with DW, Jed, tools, cooler on the back seat, full fuel tank and most everything we would have on the road minus the 5er.

That's step #2 ( or 7--not sure). The nearest scale is an hour away, so when I'm in that area next, I'll be a little more educated.

So is it payload rating or "axle rating" that one should heed?
What if you got a couple too many racks of Kokanee or Canadian in the front storage?

And to clarify, while sarcastic, my last posts were an attempt to get those not in the know to try and actually understand what's going on, not "I've been calling GM and emailing them because I must know my axle rating."
Know that is a placebo compared to understanding just a "little bit" of the machine you're operating vs ignorant bliss.

Here's a little fun query. Do you know what the axle is actually rated for? Hint, it's about 50% more than the "axle rating" you found.
What you're seeing is a rating that is based on tire/wheel ratings combined with a dose of regulatory maximums for the vehicle class the truck is in.

So what were you actually looking for? Axle rating or nebulus overall rating? You got the latter.
