To get back on track, Ford is doing the same thing the other manufacturers are doing. Making quasi-1/2 ton trucks.
I thought this was Ford's original rational for eliminating the Ranger. It was competing with the F150.
Small pickups are great if you aren't planning to tow more than a utility trailer and only occasionally haul some stuff in the truck bed, so it's silly to bump them up to a quasi-1/2 ton because then it makes more sense to get a 1/2 ton.
My first car was an S-15 back in 1986. Almost got a ranger but price was $200 less. It was a 2.5l 4cycl and really had plenty of power. Even with the larger size the 2.7turbo is overkill for this truck.
