Hmmm, didn't know that. That means it's the same engine in the RAM 1500 and Grand Cherokee diesel SUV. VM Motori is a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler which drove the choice of making their 3.0L V6 engine the 'EcoDiesel'.

Learn something new every day. According to the VM Motori Company History it is a 50/50 joint venture between Fiat and GM. Whaddaya know?!?!? :h
