Save a lot of room over a console shifter and can't be any more awkward than the column shifters on HD trucks, provided it is in an easily accessible location.
Just on the steering wheel. No paddles on the trucks.
Better the steering wheel than on the column shifter. Whenever I haven't used my truck for a spell, I find my fingers looking for the paddles that are on my car and just find radios controls.
