Is it my imagination or are RAM trucks getting uglier and uglier? Sure are getting expensive, 65 grand for a coil sprung 1/2 ton short bed grocery getter... Not for me.
Not a fan of the new looks either it looks more like the new fordgmtoyota. Yea they are getting more expensive not just from inflation but gadgets that people spring for. Not me just specked a 4 door 6.5 bed 19 Hemi RAM Big Horn for 41k. Looked at a new f150 the other day with a sticker sniffing 70k and it still has the antiquated leaf springs from horse carts and model T days. Even straight trucks did away with them 50 years ago.
Agree about the 5 1/2' boxes I ordered the 6 1/2' box in my RAM which has fit motorcycles, ATVs, riding lawn mowers even a heavy golf cart. Just air up the bags for smooth compliant & controlled ride even on rough road. Semi's have been promoting air ride for decades since they dumped leaf springs and had to overcome the reputation for jarring bouncing and breaking contents.
Semi's haven't dumped leaf springs. They use leaf springs in conjunction with air bags.
As far as inflation, I would wager that if one compared a truck with the same amenities and capabilities as their older truck; adjusted for added government regulated components like air bags, Anti-lock braking, or electronic stability control then they would probably within a thousand or so with inflation. The technology packed trucks of yesterday are today's base model truck so you can't compare a Lariat to Lariat or Laramie to Laramie.
Then there is the fact of capabilities. In sidecar's truck year, you needed a 350/3500 diesel truck to tow 10k. That could easily be done by an HD half ton or gas 3/4 ton today. - VernDieselExplorer

The other day at Safeway, I parked with my front bumper a couple inches for the car in the adjacent park spot, and my wife stayed in the truck. The lady came out of the store and my wife said she walk to the front of her car three times to look at the spacing. I asked my wife if she exampled it to the lady, that I had a camera that looked straight down at the front bumper (just like the new RAMs). She said no! - HammerboyExplorerI think the exteriors of the new Rams look much better than the ones they are replacing. The new 2019 Chevys on the other hand I think are getting uglier and I'm a GM guy.
All the bling though I can leave behind.

FYI
In a unique turn of events, Ram is going to continue what is in effect the 1918 version of trucks into the future
Sure hard to tell the trim level? Longhorn or Tradesman? - TurnThePageExplorerI would definitely use half of that screen for a rear view camera on my trailer. The outside is finally growing on me. The Laramie and below trim levels look better with their more conventional headlight styling than the Long Horn and Limited. That interior rocks! Not $65k rocks though. :)

Not a total fan of the exterior, but absolutely love the interior. Not sure if there's really pumpkin orange in there. If there is then there's a lot of different colors used. I think it's the lighting thats making it look orange in a couple shots.
This is the perfect truck for my son who has a Ram 1500. His wife drives it to work in town everyday. They use it as the family car since he has a company car. They use it to pull their ski boat and load it up with gear when camping. He uses it for runs to Lowes, etc or hauling a 5x10 utility trailer for stuff.
They also use it for grocery shopping.
People on here make fun of 1/2 tons, but there's a reason why the F150 is the top overall selling vehicle. Versatility.
It is tan/brown. I was in the exact interior this week. But just the regular 5.7 no eTorq. I am not usually a fan of the Ram interiors simply because the seats do not fit me the way I like. But this one was perfect as far as comfort. I am on the fence on the big Uconnect screen. I rarely double screen it and the hard buttons around it are more difficult to get to than the smaller screen. If you like to have two screens visible at the same time it is for you. If not save your cash for the smaller version. - goducks10ExplorerNot a total fan of the exterior, but absolutely love the interior. Not sure if there's really pumpkin orange in there. Said before, 65 grand is more than I paid for my farm and my farm makes money. Real estate appreciates. Vehicles depreciate.
I'm not in the market to buy a new vehicle and if I did (which I did last year), I'd buy a low mileage off lease with a factory warranty.
Step right up, keeps the economy rolling but in my case, ain't gonna happen.
Finally, they are still ugly.
We all know it ain't gonna happen in your case. You go out of your way to let us know in every thread about a new truck. Although you kinda out did yourself in this thread. I figured we would at least get to the second page before posting your usual negativity about new trucks. Was it because this 1/2 ton is rated to tow more than your 97 and you got jealous?
Oh, and you paid way more for your farm than 65k in today's money so comparing it to a new truck is just silly. It's called inflation and it is because the cost to make things increases due to higher wages and other goods along with regulations and interest rates. Here is a link to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics inflation calculator so you can can see just how much your land cost with today's monetary value.-----> LINK
Don't be surprised if that $65k is equal to well over $150k in today's monetary value depending on when you bought it.
