245/70/19.5 on a 2013 2500HD

I just wanted to post this to help anyone going to 19.5s on a 2013 Chevy 2500HD, I went with Vision 81 wheels and Toyo M608 tires in 245/70/19.5.

This gives me a 4500lb capacity on the wheels and 4540 on the tires @110psi, they fit great with no trimming or mods to the truck at stock ride height. I have about 400 miles on them and they are a little sqirmy and track with grooves in the pavement but are getting better as they heat cycle.

I got the tires from Les Schwab in Mount Vernon, they did a great job on the mount and balance. They are used to dealing with commercial tires and use a road force balancer, I have less vibration than with my old stock Duravis 700s that came on the truck.

  • Congrats on the new tires.

FWIW, with my previous truck, a SRW with 19.5s, 80-85 pressure seemed to steer better than higher pressures on the front. My F450 that came stock with 19.5s has 80 as the pressure recommended for the front at 14500 GVWR. I think that means my trial/error was pretty good. :)

In any case, try less pressure on the front if you aren't already at 80, and you'll probably find it helps with the tracking of the front.

If you are running around unloaded, you may also find you need to lower the pressure for really bumpy roads. I found 65 to be pretty good for daily driving, but you obviously need a good compressor to get back up to 100 or so.
