Still running my original propane Dometic fridge. (31 years)
I replaced the coils myself about 12 years ago.
If I am not careful it gets down to 30 degrees in the morning.
The Norcold in my old lance was trouble free and the Dometic in my new Palomino pulls down from ambient to 34 degrees compartment temperature in less than 3 hours from a hot start.
I did add quite a bit of insulation to the cavity, the builders must have been short on the stuff, wasn't much in there. Is now, half a roll of R13 unfaced. 2 computer fans mounted right in front of the condenser blowing out (I don't have a roof vent, it's a pop up) and a large galvanized sheet baffle on top of the condenser to direct the airflow.
Holds 34 on setting 2 with three to go that I don't need.
I think the trick to longevity in an ammonia fridge is being as close to level (on 2 planes) as possible.
If a compressor was an option I would have one. Same with a cassette crapper. I dislike black tanks and the Thetford self contained crapper is a joy to empty.
