3/4 ton gasser gas mileage?

About the same as your Turd. 4.10RE ratio is going to be your killer.

9 towing an 8000 lb trailer is a little optimistic. I'd expect 7-8. Not towing will depend on your driving. Maybe 16 if you do a lot of highway, 12 if more around town. Check out Fuelly.

Watch out for the outlier reports. People tend to take their best tank under ideal circumstances and declare that as their average MPG.

Pretty common terminology for them,, even by owners.

The amount of work is about the same, so the amount of fuel expended is about the same...factored by a few things

Like the BTU content of each gallon...diesel has more than gasoline

The cd (coefficient of drag) makes the next component that factors

Gear ratio down to pavement vs ICE architecture

Finally, the biggest factor of all...your right foot vs terrain...

Back to the original topic...You will get between 7 and 10 depending on the terrain and wind.

Might consider going to a 3500 series truck. Not much more money and you will gain even more payload for all the, "too much stuff," that you say you take...

Best to forget about mileage when towing..

I had a 2015 3/4 ton Chevy with the 6.0L gas engine and 4.10 rear end and towed a 9K travel Trailer. 8 mpg - 8.5 mpg was the best I could ever do here in the Northeast where there's lots of hills where I towed. Without towing, I would average 14 mpg (combo city and highway driving). What I loved about the engine is it was a workhorse and had been around forever. What I hated about the 6.0L was it was nothing to write home about when you needed to get on it. I also wasn't much of a fan of the turning radius of the truck. Very wide radius compared to the Ram truck I have now.

Hmmm. News to me. I never heard the owners I know or any of the fiends and family that build them here in SA call them that. Carry on then.

Before there's any more insults, the Tundra is the nicest, best performing, best handling, most reliable truck I've ever had. I bought 7 new chevy's over 33 years and finally gave up on their quality and went to Toyota. Never had a problem and it's done everything we've asked it to do, including pulling that trailer over the continental divide 4 times.

This is the most un-excited I've ever been about trading vehicles. But we need more capacity and Toyota doesn't make a 3/4 ton. If they did, I'd already have it.

I was concerned about gas mileage because the 3/4 ton itself weighs 1200 lbs more than the tundra, has less HP (360 vs my 381), and has a taller gear ratio (4.1 vs 4.3 in the Tundra). All of those numbers are going in the wrong direction for power and gas mileage.
