There was a even larger displacement, I think in the 256 or 249 cubic inch per cylinder configuration. The 645 was a engine made for trains. They where first designed by the Winton Motor Company, as train engines, then later changed to trucks and other uses, such as generators.
I know a person who owns a 253 generator (2 cylinder and 53 cubic inches per cylinder) and knew a fireman who bought a pick up truck with a 4V53 engine in it. That would be 4 cylinders.

A 53 series Detroit Diesel in a V4 configuration? I would like to see pictures of that! I worked on 2/53s, inline 4/53s, and a few 6V53s, but never saw a 4V53.- Anyone else worried about someone losing an arm in the belts?!!!
- I know of a Hyundai engine that is quite a bit more powerful, only has 10 cylinders, and there are no funny men with goat beards whooping it up over it. :B
