It may be common sense rules the day but for a new RVer it does get a bit confusing when all you are attempting is to do the right thing to keep yourself and your family in the safe zone.
Agreed there too. It's too bad Ford plays with numbers to cover both areas of the market. However, they do that as people who don't do their research would likely shop a different brand if they killed off the 250 as they'd think the 350 SRW is too much or unnecessary for their needs. So, to stay competitive, they are forced to build a redundant vehicle with de-rated specs to satisfy the uninformed. I've always advocated for the current 350 SRW to be the 250 and the 350 to be DRW only. This would make a lot more sense...
Actually no that is not why they do it. And the other makes derate their 2500s as well to fit withing the 10,000 lb GVWR as well. You can't tell me that a even though a Ram 2500 has 500 lbs less axle rating than an identical 3500 then it should have almost 2,000 lbs less payload. Going by the stats, the diesel Ram 2500 should be a 11,200 lbs GVWR truck? But it is derated to fit into the 2B class so you don't need a special licence or registration to drive it.
