Really am not THAT interested in the difference to look it up, but have enough information to form my own accurate opinion whether you think so or not.....I merely based my opinion on what was given to me by Ford posters and the parts lists....SOOOO IF they ARE IDENTICAL, both the F250 and F350 SRW, as stated, I would purchase the F250, it would cost less and Ford can't rip me off by selling me an F350 SRW that is actually an F250 in every aspect...GVWR, RAWR, FAWR and GCWR...as you stated the trucks ARE IDENTICAL....seems like a rip off..Now if "some" F350' SRW trucks ARE different than F250's, ie higher GVWR, RAWR, FAWR and GCWR, some have contradicted themselves by stating F250's are identical to F350 SRW trucks, pretty inclusive...leaving no room for exceptions.
It's not a "rip off." It is building one truck to fill two market segments. If Ford dropped the 250 and only built the SRW 350 (because they are identical) then the uninformed who think they only need a 250 and that it rides better, would shop another brand. It's just good business to make both because most buyers are like you and it's not important enough for them to take the time to verify that they are the same. Hell, most don't even know how to do said research and and ignorantly blissful.
And no, not some SRW 350's are different than the 250's. If ordered with the same options they have the same parts every time. Yes, it's all inclusive.
The 250 is de-rated on paper and it's sticker. It uses the identical axles and yet they are rated at 900# less. It uses the same everything else and the GWVR is 1500# less. The ratings are de-rated on a 250 just like when you buy a SRW 350 in CA and order the 10k de-rate package. The truck is the same as any other SRW 350 and yet on paper the GVWR is less to save reg and insurance fees.
Bottom line is ratings, at least with Ford, are not always based on engineering but rather marketing of a product. Just like how the F450 is de-rated to keep it from jumping a class...
