Found this pictorial on-line that shows the different gear ratio's verses best fuel mileage and towing power...
The 3.73 is right in the middle

The 4.10 will give you more towing power but will suffer more in fuel mileage
If your trailer is really heavy then the higher number is what you may need to be able for your truck motor to tow it better...
I always get the 3:73 ratio to have the best of both worlds for gas mileage and towing...
In my case here with my 4200lb loaded OFF-ROAD POPUP Trailer My 2010 F150 Ford truck doesn't know the popup trailer is being pulled. This is probably mostly because of much decreased wind load. I actually get about the same gas mileage of around 20mpg on my trips whether I am towing the POPUP trailer or not...
