3rd row seat...payload capacity question

Payload is a rating based on a generic optioned vehicle which can be significantly different than yours. To find your vehicles payload do the following math: GVWR - Actual Weight of your vehicle. Yes it's that simple. So if your vehicle has 100# less because the seat is removed then your payload is 100# more!

Every read the 'fine print' when payload, tow numbers etc are published?

*Weight of additional options, passengers, cargo and hitch must be deducted from this weight.

YES.that optional 3rd seat will reduce payload as will anyone using that seat (or any cargo/stuff........as will ALL passengers plus any drivers weight that is more than 150#)

Like suggested...weigh vehicle 'camp ready' (every body/thing in it) and subtract that weight from GVWR......pay attention to RAWR and Rear Tire Max Load Ratings also

If you're pulling that number off the sticker on the vehicle then pulling the third row out gains whatever it weighs. That number on the sticker should be as delivered with a full tank of fuel.

Just like Eluwak said, if you read let's say 1500 # off the yellow sticker on YOUR Tahoe, it includes the third row seats. If you take them out you will gain that weight towards the tongue weight.

Yes, if you take out the 100# third seat, you can replace it with a different hundred pounds of junk. 100# of weight riding on the rear axle is 100# of weight regardless of what it is (unless you load it with 100#s of pigeons and keep them flying all of the time).

I did not think any payloads include a full tank of fuel.

Nope...works the other way around...that 3rd row seat *TOOK* away from
the payload/cargo rating...read these...and learn what 'curb' means and that
all ratings are based no a 'curb' vehicle weight...which is (and soon to be
not) the stripper model...it will become the 'base curb model' with ***NO***
options

Meaning that both 'curb' (stripper model and the base model) does
NOT include options. If that 3rd row seat was an option, or part of
an option 'package'...it is NOT included in those labels

Just that 'stripper' or 'base' model with the tow option, one 150 lb
driver. Some OEMs use full fluids, others half a tank...

Was going to say, it only works if you own a Dodge :p

But realized Dodge doesn't build removable 3rd row SUVs.

They do weight each vehicle off the production line individually though. On my 1500 Sport, if I remove the spare and tailgate, I gain an easy 160 lbs payload. Not only that, I gain slightly more than that in rear GAWR because of the fulcrum effect.
