Those covers aren't really good at keeping bugs out. In my opinion, chemical detergents are better, moth balls, livestock ear tags, used to use Shell No Pest Strips, but they had the unfortunate tendency to kill people.
I suppose if you got the cover incredibly tight it might work, but they can get through the smallest hole.
All of that said, I probably have a new old stock one in my leftover inventory.
