This is a good one to share. I've learned the hard way over the years that dealership techs no longer seem to have the ability to use logic to troubleshoot. They try to pull a code, and if they can't they either deny there is a problem or they start throwing parts at it. I've also learned that you check all the free or cheap stuff first, like fuses and connections. Plug a trailer with a non-working light into another truck. If the light now works, it's the truck. Things like that, just simple logic. FWIW, I had exactly the same problem with a new 2005 Silverado. After checking fuses and connections and confirming it wasn't a trailer problem I took it to the dealer where they found a bad flasher module and replaced it under warranty.
