It might have felt that way because of the low down torque but 410HP hemi will beat 360HP diesel towing. It will do it at a higher RPM but that is just the way it is.
I'm thinking some will disagree with this statement. I've always been under the impression that torque is what wins the race towing. From driving both trucks I'd stand by that. Dmax was 360HP/650 torque, Hemi 6.4 is 410HP/430 torque and the Dmax had more acceleration up hills (accelerating from 40-60 up a modest grade, for example). They seem pretty equal from a dead stop on flat ground but the Dmax up a hill with the same load would win hands down.
In any case, both moved the trailer great and I know I'm way under the capability of both trucks with my moderate sized TT.
