Perhaps because Fuelly is reporting an overall average, while (in my case) I was commenting on what I've seen in specific situations, like towing, or all-highway miles. They're the extremes, which is why I mentioned them.
My overall average numbers probably aren't that different than what's on Fuelly. But Fuelly doesn't tell you much about what to expect when towing, does it? Or on long trips? Fuelly lumps it all into one number with no indication of how the truck was used to get that number.
