6.4 hemi getting 22 mpg???

I was a little hesitant to buy a 2500 Ram with the 6.4 gasser, especially after reading the low mpg drivers in this forum were getting with theirs. however, I couldn't justify the price of a diesel for the low amount of yearly driving we do.
If the idiot gage in the truck was anywhere near accurate, I was getting 22 at 60 mph hwy on a recent trip through hilly Pa.
I can only guess that the low mileage posted by other drivers was because of higher speeds, a real gas killer.
We will be making a trip from Pa to Tx this coming weekend. This time we will do a comparison on paper to see if it comes anywhere near 22. I will post that Sunday.

    Dodge and Ram are famous for their overly enthusiastic MPG readouts.
    I wouldn't get my hopes up too much!

    I usually got around 18 mpg hwy on flat ground with no wind at 60 mph.
    Wind or hills would reduce it to 14-16 mpg depending on wind speed and direction. Hills weren't a big mpg killer, but it did go down some. I have a video of mine getting 20-22 mpg on the EVIC on my YouTube channel.

    The guys at the Chrysler training center have a 2500 6.4 and always complain of mileage. Of course they use it to go to other schools in IA and MI and IN. So I here then talking and ya. Setting the cruise at 85 isn’t doing any good! I told them to try 70 and watch it go up.

    I'm a slow driver. Empty I get 15 mpg with my 6.4 and 4.10 gearing

    Towing I'm in the 9-11 range.

    This is by the computer, I don't care enough to bother with manual calculations.

    I have a Subaru wagon for groceries.

    I think 12 to 14 is a more realistic overall range to expect. Maybe 16 if your miles are heavily biased towards 55-60 mph highway. City, high speed freeway or towing and your mileage will crater.

    I'm not putting it down, it's a heavy duty truck with a big gas V8 - is what it is.

    Shoot, that's nothing, I've seen 99 mpg on the overhead console on my Cummins pulling the toyhauler and running 65 mph. Course that was down a 5% grade in Tennessee. Just got to pick where you want to get those mileage figures. :)
