6.4 UPDATE

Okay, I have some information about the results of the 6.4 problems I've been having. I'll try to keep this brief but clear. I would ask that there not be any brand bashing. I'm looking for advise and am sure that many other 6.4 owners would be interested as well, so please do not get this shut down. There are so many knowledgeable people on this forum and would really appreciate hearing from them.

When I first took in my truck to the garage, I was informed by the service advisor they would do a compression test to check if head gasket and were going to diagnose for egr cooler. The initial thinking of the the service advisor was egr cooler. I found out the next day that it was the left side head gasket. Cab was raised up off the chassis and $1200.00 of Ford parts were installed. Truck was put back together. Yesterday (Thurs), I was informed the truck was still puking out coolant. The service manager said when he drove the truck somewhat aggressive up to 80 mph, it puked coolant. Well, today (Fri), this Ford Garage consulted with Ford for further advise. Ford advised to completely drain the oil and pressurize the cooling system to see if any coolant comes out of the oil drain plug. This was supposed to indicate a cracked head or a cracked block???

Well, I just got off the phone with the garage and the service advisor, and was informed there was no coolant leaking (good news). They were now going to look at the egr cooler and probably won't know until Monday. If it's the egr cooler, up comes the cab off the chassis again. Up goes the total $$$.

My thinking is to get all the old parts returned to me along with any computer printouts of the testing that has been done. I don't know if I should be more concerned with the truck or the dealership I took it to? They originally did a compression test and diagnosed a head gasket. If it was a cracked block or head, wouldn't the compression test have shown that? I also suggested that the dead gasket could have slipped during installation and was not installed properly. If they try to tell me on Monday that it's the egr cooler, I'm going to be extremely suspicious of what the actually is. They're already into me for $3600.00. I don't want to pay for incompetence. Suggestions?

As I said earlier, this truck has always had the best of care with all service performed in time. I only drive at 65mph when towing to conserve fuel and to be safe. I don't drive it like I just stole it, but I will when I pick it up to insure repairs have been made.
