I have a 2008 6.4L. For most of us, we don't know how to work on these trucks. Even looking under the hood is intimidating to me. We are kind of at the mercy of dealers. Luckily I found a local diesel repair shop that I trust. I just research the internet like crazy, so when I visit the repair shop I have a bit of knowledge to share so they know I'm not completely stupid when it comes talking shop with them. It seems they are more forthcoming and honest if you kinda know what you are talking about but still ignorant on details. My latest endeavor was doing a DPF delete and tuner thru this shop. Truck runs great now. But overall, I still do not trust the truck. Hope you get it straightened out.
