You obviously haven't shopped around for awhile, or you've got a lot more money than me. I don't agree with that thinking at all. If a diesel truck can't last for at least 3 - 400k miles and the consumer accepts that, then the consumer get exactly what they deserve.
IMO, the whole idea that a diesel truck will go for 300K miles is becoming outdated. The engine might make it but it won't be cost effective to repair other parts that are attached. Whether you are for or against the emission requirements for modern diesels it's hard to argue they aren't changing the landscape of owning these trucks.
