I've been pretty lucky with this truck. Only replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses. And finally fed up with the clouds of smoke at regens. Turns out DPF was going bad at 76,000 miles, so I deleted the DPF, put a straight pipe in its place and a stock tune on it. My mileage has improved and no more regens. Technically I'm now a criminal by the EPA.
I'm thinking of getting rid of it anyways and go back to gas and maybe a 6.2L.
I think you'd be good after getting rid of the EGR and DPF. Now there's no back pressure tearing up the turbo's and valves. You just have to change the oil more frequently because of the dilution issues.
Also, the EPA can ***********!! I see every trucks on the road all day long billowing out pollution.
