CAT may have gotten out of the On Highway engine business in 2010, but CAT is back in 2017.
CAT actually never really left. In 2011, CAT introduced their then new CT660 On Highway severe service truck, with a CAT CT13 engine, made by International, the same folks who made the 6.0L and 6.4L.
Are you sure you want a pick up with a CAT engine?
International not only made the engine, they actually made the truck itself... but to CAT's specifications and design.
Still, it looks like International didn't "deliver", because CAT ended the partnership with Navistar effective the beginning of 2017. CAT now has three On highway trucks, and has moved production away from Navistar's facilities in Mexico, to CAT's manufacturing facility in Texas. And, CAT has been working on a 15 liter On Highway engine to be introduced this year.
Never say never.
