Please tell me if the following narrative is typical?
Got the EGR cooler fixed...now I need a turbo rebuild..
So, fix the turbo at about what? $1500.00?
Then pray the over boost didn't stretch the head bolts....dang..it did... Now new head gaskets for $3500 ish with studs.... l I hope I didn't burn a piston up.
Anything else typically in the story that I am missing ?
Thanks!
Jeremiah
More likely cause of stretched head-bolts is coolant ingestion, which of course can also cause more serious damage. Usually the over-boost won't cause too much engine damage because if the hoses don't blow, the intercooler will. The stock intercooler has crimped ends so it's not very robust.
