We had an new 2004 Expedition with the smaller 4.6 V-8 towing a Jayco TT weighing around 5400lbs and was adaquate on level ground..struggled on hills.
Then we went with a new 5.4L V-8 and it was actually a great engine..on the same mountain and hills that the 4.6L gave me white knuckles on...the 5.4 was confident and had great reserve power. Even when we went to a slightly longer/heavier Jayco TT that 5.4 did fine. Actually no complaints!
And when we bought a new F250 Diesel and realized that we could now not only pull bigger...but also now could graduate to a 5th wheel. ;)
